　　雷恩(马修·迈康纳斯饰)从前是一个大学联赛的足球明星，他拥有一种不可思议的神秘力量：可以预知比赛的结果。一次意外受伤，让雷恩不得不忍痛结束自己满载荣誉的体育生涯，终日靠做兼职的工作为生。华尔德(艾尔·帕西诺饰)，国内知名的足球投资家，正是看中雷恩的这种超能力可为他的足球队盈利，于是他千方百计说服雷恩复出。雷恩很快在华尔德的怂恿下变成一个拜金的人，陷在纸醉金迷的上层生活里不能自拔。与华尔德的交易使得雷恩的钱包很快肥得流油，但随着时间得流逝，雷恩逐渐厌恶了在华尔德操纵下的生活，他开始想从中挣脱出来……

幕后制作

　　从《利欲两心》中能看到诸多流行影片的影子：《拜金一族》中残酷的职场生存、《魔鬼代言人》父子般反目相向、《华尔街》幕后黑手的翻云覆雨、《甜心先生》中火热的赛场预测……既然小小的赌场都凝结了人生的百种况味，《利欲两心》也就甘愿成为一部杂糅之作，而且导演D?J?卡鲁索刚刚把发展的重心由电视剧移至电影，之前的两部电影作品《沙顿海》、《机动杀人》均未成为票房与评论的宠儿，其拍摄手法与经验都十分有限，好在影片有了阿尔?帕西诺的加盟。有人认为本片是帕西诺自《闻香识女人》后最棒的一部表演作品，“罗伯特?德尼罗已经尘埃老去，帕西诺依旧精神抖擞”，此类谋略百般的强者角色仿佛天生就是为帕西诺准备的，用片中沃特的话来总结一下就是，“我是在无常的世界中出售获胜的必然。”
